dancing stars with the Lakes Area By: Kori Flowers The Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity hosted a first-of-its-kind event at Dennis Drummond Wine Company in Brainerd on Thursday March 12. Habitat for Humanity hosted "Dancing with the Lakes Area Stars" to raise funds to build the Svoboda family's new house. Featuring local couples and dancers from the Spirit Movement Dance Studio, the event was able to raise $7,500 towards the goal of $125,000 and provided a night of fun and dancing entertainment to the community. Chad & Amy Price Nate & Deanna Olson Ruth Ann Veith, Development Director of the Lakes Area Habitat said, "it is our thirtieth anniversary of serving families and yet we still have many members in our community who don't know the full extent of how family's partner with us. For example, many people still believe we give houses away for free. So, we said, we need to reach further into the community to tell our story. We needed something new and different, something that would bring in a variety of people and the Dancing with the Lakes Area Stars was born!
