FARM-TO-FOOD SHELF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Volunteers are needed to help pick fresh produce at Brakstad Farms in Pequot Lakes, MN, as part of the Farm-to-Food Shelf Pilot Program recently funded through a grant by Sourcewell. (Pictured left are Robyn and Lance Bragstad delivering fresh produce to Lakes Area Food Shelf.) The Pilot Program is a collaboration between Brakstad Farms; Lakes Area Food Shelf; Pine River Area Food Shelf; and the Pine River/Backus CommUnity Meal Program - all working together to bring fresh produce to friends and neighbors in need of food. As volunteers, you will help pick fresh produce that will be delivered to participating food shelves and the community meal program. In return, you will be able to pick produce for your families at NO COST! The Farm-to-Food Shelf Pilot program is also interested in connecting with other local farmers who might be interested in learning about the Pilot Program - and how they might become involved. Interested farmers should contact Robyn or Lance Bragstad, owners of Brakstad Farms, at 218-330-6055. If you are interested in helping pick produce, please contact either Kathy Adams, Lakes Area Food Shelf @218-839-0048; lafs1@tds.net or LuAnn LaValle @218-587-4292; office@prbfamilycenter.org.
