Paul M. Thiede is serving his fourth (non-concurrent) term on the Crow Wing County
Board of Commissioners. Prior to his current office he served four terms in the
Minnesota House of Representatives. A graduate of the University of Dayton, Dayton,
Ohio, with a B.A. in communications, he and his wife, Dee, have raised their eight
children in Jenkins Township of Crow Wing County where they have lived the past 35
years.
A U.S. Air Force veteran and former newspaper owner/editor he has served on
numerous boards, commissions and with many civic organizations. While serving on
the national board of directors of a state legislators’ organization he was named one of
ten Outstanding Legislators in America. His service in the state legislature also
included being both an assistant majority leader and assistant minority leader. The
bulk of his employment outside the political arena has been in sales and
communications.
