The old adage, "honesty is the best policy," is just as true today as ever. Anyone who depends on repeat customers or clients cannot survive for long without following this policy; anyone who deals with other people cannot afford to disregard it.
Observance of the law may keep a person out of jail, but it doesn't necessarily mean that person is honest. Honesty goes far beyond the law. It involves a careful regard for the rights of other people, a truthfulness and sincerity in dealing with others, and a fairness and trustworthiness in matters involving property or business.
Be honest, and your reputation will take care of itself. Be reliable in word and deed, and you will enjoy the things that no amount of money can buy - happiness, success and respect.
