1868 USA 150AR BRAINERD ELKS LODGE #615 FLAG DAY JUNE 14, 2018 Public Invite &S DID YOU KNOW? Flag Day, June 14th is a day that in 1911 Elks Grand Lodge mandated observance by all lodges. This year, 2018, Brainerd Lodge #615 will commemorate the day on June 4th between the Crow Wing County Historic Courthouse and the Land Services Building. The program will begin at 4:00 PM Ourflag is the symbol that stands for a nation's basic ideas and purposes. It is our chief emblem and it represents the union of 50 states and milions of people joined into ONE GREAT country. Our flag stands for our people, millions of Americans who have worked and fought to preserve our freedoms and way of life. Did you know what the colors in our flag stand for. White signifies purity and innocence. Red signifies hardiness and valor. Blue signifies vigilance, perseverance and justice. Did you know that the pledge was first published in 1892? It was reworded in 1923, and 1954. We use the 1954 version today. IPLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVMSIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FORALL In 1905 the Trademark Act forbade using the flag in any registered trademark. In 1942 the Code of Flag Display and Use act brought together existing rules and customs for flag use and display and was amended in 1976. In 1949 The National Flag Day Bill was officially designated the bill was signed by President Harry S. Truman who was an Elk. n 1953 the United National Act permitted the UN. Flag to be displayed above the U.S. and other national flags at the U.N. Headquarters. The PRE-REVOLUTION FLAG was the RATTLESNAKE with the slogan "Don't tread on me. ih 1775 the Pine Tree Banner flag was used on America's first fleet of warships which engaged the British in battle November-December 1775. In 1775-1776 the Grand Union Flag had 13 alternating red and white stripes representing the 13 original colonies. In 1777 the first authorized American flag was established by Congressional Resolution on June 14. In 1794 the Second Congressional Flag Act added 2 Stars and Stripes to represent admission of Vermont and Kentucky to the Union.
